Łódź Design Festival 2019: What you can expect!
Łódź Design Festival
From the 17th of May till the 26th of May you can explore the oldest design festival in Poland. Devoted to industrial and graphic design, architecture, craft, creation of services and interaction, the Łódź Design Festival is the most anticipated design festival in Poland and also aspires to be the opinion-forming design platform in Europe. They present important, innovative trends each year with a different focus.
Slowing down and ecology
The theme for this year is “Good Life” and is focussed on slowing down, thinking about what society really wants and what actually makes us happy. In trends, this translates to designers taking up arts and crafts to give us unique products, while also focussing on having minimal waste and making use of ecological materials.
Exhibits and activities
The main event of the Łódź Design Festival is the collection of curated exhibitions that revolve around the theme of “Good Life”, however, many other events are also taking place at the same time. Here are some of our favourites.
Make Me
For starting designers, the Make Me competition is not only interesting but valuable for them to be able to express their artistic skills. Their work will be displayed in an exhibition and will help them create their artistic identity. The winner will go home with a prize and the Paradyź Award.
Educreation
Another part of the Łódź Design Festival is the Educreation space where families with children can get even more in touch with design through interactive installations.
Must Have
For people not familiar with Polish design, the Must Have exhibition is the perfect place to start. This exclusive exhibit features only the best of Polish design and art. It is also one of the most visited exhibits outside of the main exhibit at the Łódź Design Festival.
