WHERE & WHEN
This year Gdynia Design Centre is organizing the 12th edition of this inspirational event, which will take place at the Pomeranian Science and Technology Park Gdynia, from July 6th to 14th. Even though the center will be the main location, there will be events and installations related to the design event all over the city, for example at the Gdynia City Museum, Gdynia Film Centre, Navy Club “Riviera”.
Motto – “POLARISATION”
“POLARISATION” was chosen as 2019 edition motto because of our bright necessity for a dialogue in a world which is more divided than ever. Realities of today’s world show that different and opposite factions have to come together to start a conversation about their issues and problems: engagement on contemporary’s problems through a forum for debate is the real key to find valid solutions to a polarised reality.
YOU CAN’T MISS THIS

Hello Open’er! – guided tours on Gdynia Design Days exhibitions
During the one-hour guided tour, the guides of GDD will show you the most interesting projects from over 20 exhibitions presented at the PPNT Gdynia. This year they interpret the festival slogan — POLARIZATION. At the main exhibition “me | we” you will see, among others, how to improve intergenerational communication and play chess with our grandparents.
In addition, they will take you on a Mars mission with Lem Mars Rover, you will get a closer look at the human body as a previously unused source of raw materials, prove that there is the matter of code and that not allowing global warming to rise of 2 ° C will save our planet from ecological catastrophe.
Design makes the world turn round better
The importance of design festivals is to not only depolarize but to embrace diversity and direct collaborative energy towards positive change. As World Design Weeks GDD are all different but they have got the love for design in common. Celebrating design is what this event does, to enhance the impact of the design.
From my own company Factor-I (2001) I work as a connector, communicator and conceptor with a focus on co/design for people and planet.

NO MORE WASTE
Agnieszka Jacobson-Cielecka – exhibition curator and design theoretician and Karol Muralak – designer and researcher present the “(no) more waste” installations: the focus will be on trash and how something that has always been considered an industry’s waste will be re-used in a new and responsible manner, to change the erroneous ways of our past productions.
