The story of Cameron Woo finding his passion for interior design is nothing short of fascinating. Born to a Chinese Australian family in Papua New Guinea, Woo became inspired by where he grew up – the tropical plantation by the beach that he and his parents lived in.
His style
Funnily enough, Cameron Woo doesn’t consider himself nor his firm to have a style. Instead, he prefers to create bespoke spaces that are tailored to the desires of the clients. Woo has spoke in depth about this, saying “I don’t think we actually have a style. Others might think that we do, but I personally don’t. Our designs are dictated by what our clients really want”. The interior for me should showcase the personality of the client rather than the interior designer”. This not only shows Cameron Woo Design’s adaptability, but also a serious attention to detail in giving clients exactly what they are after.
Despite Woo’s humility when it comes to interior design being about the client, rather than himself, his designs show the confidence, and the healthy type of arrogance that is necessary to be successful in the world of interior design, which is always competitive. Cameron Woo Design’s attitude to putting the clients first has allowed the firm to easily dodge the pitfalls that come with changing times. When asked about their clients, they stated that in the past their clients were typically in their 50s, who had a tendency to go for more traditional, conservative interior designs. However, these days they are serving a younger generation, which explores new trends and ideas, often featuring digital technology.

Silkari Penthouse, Australia

Scotts High Park Showflat, Singapore
Woo here shows his eye for stunning interior design, with a beautiful modern take on the traditional dining room. Despite claiming to not have a particular style, this kind of quality dining room can be seen throughout many of Woo’s projects.
With elements of both modern and traditional design, this was designed for the affluent South Asian home buyer. This house perhaps best displays the range of Cameron Woo and Cameron Woo Design’s interior design talents.
